Greetings!
I just got
back from my annual family
vacation down in Myrtle
Beach, SC. There is
nothing like spending
quality time with your
family and chilling out.
I have been dreaming of
this vacation for several
months now! What a
great time to relax,
unwind and kick back
before the fast
approaching
Fall.

Speaking of
fall, our upcoming
schedules are now posted
on the web site. There are
some exciting new
programs to definitely get
involved with and I
highlighted some of them
on the Blog Page of the
web site! I also have
the honor and privilege to
introduce new "team
trainers" to TF. Good
things are happening with
TF!
Please also
take the time to read
about our upcoming charity
events.

Hey
Zumba Peeps!
I am
just getting
back from an AMAZING
trip to Orlando for the
worldwide ZUMBA
convention. Dru and I
had the pleasure of
going down and spending
the
week with some of the
most amazing dancers in
the world, not to
mention
we got to shake it with
Beto!!! We are spiced up
and ready to bring you
an exciting fall session
with all new songs!!!
***Take
notice that
the rates of the classes
are still $36 or 2
classes in the
same session for $58.
You can also still drop
in for only $8 (with the
exception of the
Chippewa Valley and
Saint Clair Shores
programs).
We
have added a few
more DAY TIME classes
for you to try out if
you need that kick to
get
your day started. We
will be starting a new
Aqua Zumba program in
Saint
Clair Shores at 10:30am
on Mondays with me, so
come try something new.
It isn't your typical
water workout!!! We also
will be offering regular
Zumba at 11am at
Brickhouse on
Thursdays.
We
brought back our
Friday night Zumba
Toning class and added a
few more during the week
to
fit your busy schedule.
Jennifer, Dru and
Dorothy are pleased to
tone
and shape you while you
shimmy the weight away.
Please note that you
must have 1-2 lbs HAND
HELD weights or you can
purchase the Zumba
toning sticks for $15.
As
always, please
remember to bring a
change of shoes with you
to class. Even if the
weather is nice out,
your outdoor shoes can
ruin the floor surface,
which then affects
everyone's safety in the
class. If a class is on
carpet, please remember
to bring an old pair of
socks to put over your
shoes, or we will have
packing tape to put on
the bottom of the soles.
This can help you slide
on the carpet without
the stress on your knees
and hips. If you chose
not to use these items,
that is up to you, but
you are putting yourself
at risk for injury. We
just want what's best
for you and
the health of your body
:-) *The entire
Zumba convention was
done on carpet and
everyone in there was
wearing
shoe covers of some
sort. It really does
help make a difference!
Child care is
available at Xtreme
Fitness and
Brickhouse Fitness,
please contact
the facilities directly
for more
details.

| October's Blood
Drive |
|
The Need Is
Constant
The
Gratification Is
Instant
We can all
think back to a time where
we turned to someone for
help. Now it is
our turn to return the
favor to someone else.
Donating blood saves
lives. The supply of
blood has dropped to
critically low levels,
none
more than type O. Team
Fit and the American Red
Cross are joining
forces to end the
drought. While all blood
types are needed, The
American Red Cross
and Team Fit urge all
eligible type O negative
donors to make
appointments to give blood
this fall.

The Blood
Drive will be hosted this
October at Xtreme Fitness
in Chesterfield
Township; date TBD. You
will be able to schedule
your appointment via
web or at gym's front desk
by the middle of
September. More
information to come soon!

Walk to
Cure Diabetes
Type
1 (also called
juvenile or
insulin-dependent)
diabetes often strikes
children or young
adults, but
lasts a lifetime.
Children with type 1
diabetes will not
outgrow it.
People with type 1
diabetes and their
families are in
constant struggle
to manage blood sugar
levels with six or
more daily finger
pricks to
test the blood, at
least two shots of
insulin a day, and
careful
monitoring of exercise
and food intake.
Hello, for those that
do not
know me, my name is
Rosann Palazzolo and
my precious 9 year old
daughter, Bianca, was
diagnosed with this
awful disease in 2009.
We have
registered Bianca to walk
at the JDRF (Juvenile
Diabetes Research
Foundation) Walk to Cure
Diabetes. Her team name is
Bianca's Walking
Wishes. We are proud to be
participating in the
Juvenile Diabetes
Research Foundation's Walk
to Cure Diabetes. Bianca
needs all the
support, walkers..., and
pledges, she can gather to
help find a cure
for diabetes. This
exciting, family-oriented
event will be held on
Sunday, September 26,
2010, at the GM Tech
Center in Warren, Michigan
at 8:30am. With your
support, we hope that
people with type 1
diabetes
will soon be able to enjoy
full and normal lives
without the constant
fear of dangerous
complications.This is not
a cure -- it only allows
people with diabetes to
stay alive! In addition to
the burden of
managing the disease and
an average life span
shortened by 7-10 years,
diabetes carries the
life-long threat of other
devastating
complications such as
kidney failure, blindness,
amputation, heart
attacks, and stoke.
Thanks to
the continuous generosity
of people, hopefully like
you, we're making
great strides toward a
cure. There are two ways
you can help us make a
difference for everyone
living with diabetes: You
can register the
Bianca's Walking Wishes
team, which will consists
of family, friends
and friends and family of
friends who can collect
pledges and walk with
us. Or, you can send a
tax-deductible
contribution of any
amount, made
to JDRF or the Juvenile
Diabetes Research
Foundation (please place
in
memo section of your
check: Bianca's Walking
Wishes). Please mail
contribution to JDRF,
24359 Northwestern
Highway, Suite 225,
Southfield, MI 48075 Our
team goal is to raise
$2,500.00. We hope we
can count on you. Please
forward this to your
friends and families if
possible. Thank you so
much in advance for your
generosity. If we can
help you or your family
prepare for the Walk in
any way, please let me
know. Taking part in the
Walk is a great
experience. Not only will
you
be making a real
difference in helping to
find a cure that will
change
the lives of millions...
you'll be having FUN, and
getting a good
workout too! Please visit
our Walk Web page if you
would like to donate
online or see how close we
are to reaching our
personal goal.
Thank you,
Rosann
Palazzolo
a faithful
client and dear friend

Physical
Activity
Recommendations:
School-Age
Children (6-12 years
old)
As an adult,
you need to exercise
and maintain a good
level of fitness for
your health--to manage
your
weight, prevent
diseases, reduce stress,
and be able to
accomplish
normal activities of
daily living, from
carrying groceries to
cleaning
the house. Children need
to be fit for the same
reasons as you.
Physical activity has
the same benefits,
including better sleep,
and in
some cases, improved
behavior and attention.
So how much is enough
for
your child?
Developmentally, 6 to
12-year-olds should have
the ability to perform
more complex movements,
develop hand-eye
coordination, and
understand
rules for games and
sports.
Experts recommend about
1-1/2 to 2 hours of
physical activity for
school-aged kids,
including
moderate-intensity
activities like
swimming, bicycling,
outdoor play, jumping
rope, and team sports.
Younger children should
focus on non-competitive
sports and gradually
move into competitive
sports as they get
older.
As a parent, try to plan
for 30-60 minutes of
structured, chaperoned,
planned activity while
providing plenty of
sporting and activity
equipment in your home.
Allow time (60+ minutes)
for unstructured play
as well.
