March/2011

Greetings!

Everyday of the year, people achieve dreams that once seemed impossible or too distant. What makes them different? How do they do it? Most of them would offer similar advice: You need three things to make your dream come true: belief, focus and energy. Dreams are illusive. To make them real, you've got to believe and you've got to stay focused. Dreams are demanding. They require extraordinary energy. They allow us to express our deepest desires and to find the self we forever have been seeking. Make your dream come true. No more barriers. No more excuses.

This past week, the TEAM FIT BOOT CAMP discussed procrastination ~ putting off until tomorrow what you can do today. Is there a more counterproductive habit? It causes more stress and anxiety than the Grinch in December. Procrastination solves nothing and usually makes things worse. Focus on your toughest hurdle first. Follow through and you'll be surprised how the momentum carries through the rest to achieve your dream.

And one day, we achieve our dream. But then what? A dream come true can at once bring intense satisfaction and fuel our hunger for more, because when we achieve a dream, we are redefined. My goal this month is to challenge you to renew the chase for your dream

What I am trying to say is that when your mind and your actions align, and you live for a purpose that fulfills your deepest desires and intentions, that is when you find ultimate harmony. Your own personal peace. Those of us lucky enough to know this state of grace are each one more point of light in the world. So get out there and find joy.

ABC's To A Great Workout

The definition of a great workout depends on who you ask, but there are a few things that create the kind of session that leaves both the client and the trainer feeling energized and motivated. Often times, a memorable session is determined not by how much you sweat, how fantastic your trainer is or how many hours you spend exercising, but other, seemingly insignificant factors. It is these 'little' things that make the difference between taking your workouts to the next level versus skipping the gym when you are 'just not feeling it.' The following tips will help you achieve a great workout, and are as easy to incorporate into your time at the gym as learning your ABCs:

Revised Schedule for Next Session!
April 4th-10th

As many as you know, Macomb County public schools will be closed the week of April 3rd for spring break. Therefore, we will be swapping out the last week of the 6-week session (April 3-April 10th) with the week off (April 22-17th) for classes held at Team Fit in Chesterfield Twp. Obviously, if you are registered for a program that is hosted on a school campus, this will also be your revised schedule for the Spring session.

Cycle Challenge + Weight Training = Cycle Circuit
Chantell's Cycle Circuit Begins Monday!
What better way to see results than to incorporate both a high intensity cycle program with resistance training. This format resists the body's urge to have any plateau effects and promotes muscle confusion. Team Fit will be adopting this program starting on Monday at 5:30pm with Chantell. If positive feedback is received by clients, another weekly Cycle Circuit will be adopted in future sessions. Be ready for this power packed hour with Chantell and come prepared with plenty of H20!

Learning About Portion Control

The weather is beginning to turn and our bodies are craving "picnic foods." How do we keep ourselves from running to those overflowing plates of pasta salads, ice cream, and meats? The key to healthy eating is portion control. Although it is time consuming and tedious to measure out portion sizes, it is just as important as deciding what to eat and will make the difference in our eating habits.

ABCS of portion management:
Aim for knowledge -
Learn actual portion sizes
Learn what they look like and how to measure them
Build a healthy base -
Let the food guide pyramid guide your choices
Choose sensibly
Choose foods low in saturated fat, trans fat, and cholesterol

Choose and prepare foods low in salt

If you drink alcoholic beverages, do so in moderation
