NO REGULAR CLASS SCHEDULE WEEK OF APRIL 4th @ TEAM FIT

GREETINGS!

I hope you are doing fantastic and your April is off to a great start!

I have always loved the month because it signifies "Spring" time. And to me, Spring time is one of my favorite seasons because it represents growth and new beginnings.

At Team Fit, we have plenty of new beginnings going on right now. Fantastic things are happening and I am so anxious to let you in on them. As you can see from the above picture, our marquee has finally been installed! My team and I have been waiting for this day since we opened back in January. It looks great ~ and it feels great, too!

In addition, great programs and great trainers have been added to the schedule line up this Spring. I have the pleasure to introduce to you a phenomenal trainer and a motivating individual who I am sure you will enjoy as well. Please be sure to check out Kim Ruth's bio by CLICKING HERE. Kim will be hosting the F.I.T. Challenge outdoor camp at Mae Steiner Park in Shelby Township this Spring/Summer as well as our morning Combat Boxing programs at Team Fit.

Maria Mayer also is coming on board this summer to host Yoga at the Beach. Join Maria twice a month on Saturday mornings at Brandenburg Park in Chesterfield Township. She will certainly put you in a relaxed state as you start your weekend.

Spring session begins April 18th. On-line schedule is now available for viewing and paper brochures are being distributed in campus'. We always stress the importance of pre-registration to secure your spot. You can register directly on the web site or download a registration form by CLICKING HERE and submit via "snail mail". Please be sure to refer to our Blog Page for the status of any sold out classes prior to your registration. Combat Boxing, Cycle Challenge and Zumba formats are very popular and tend to fill up rather quickly.

Please be reminded that there are NO REGULAR CLASSES RUNNING THE WEEK OF APRIL 4th for programs hosted at TEAM FIT or on school campus'. Please be sure to pick up a flyer at Team Fit to pass out to friends and neighbors who might be interested.

I take great pride in serving you and am appreciative for the positive and vibrant energy you share on an on-going basis. I encourage you to share with me your success stories and/or questions so that we can continue to deliver content that is valuable to you.

Enjoy this month's issue of TF Times.

"In Order to Lead Others, You Need to First Lead Yourself"

It doesn't matter if you struggle with busy days, a busy season or a busy life. Here's a short list of suggestions that are sure to energize your mind and body and make the "me" in your message a lot healthier and happier.

First, find balance . You've got to achieve a balance between meeting your own needs and the needs of others. Most of us don't want to hear this because we're inspired to serve others and find it hard to focus on ourselves. But you've got to do it. You have to get ahead of the curve and stay ahead. When you're strong and healthy, you bring energy and vitality to your work. When you aren't, you don't put your best foot forward because you can't. It's that simple.

Educate yourself about recovery and regeneration . This is the opposite of the weekend warrior. Yes, first you must exercise. But, I'm talking about what you do after the workouts - sleep, massage, breath work, etc. These recovery techniques help you to relax and improve your body. Regeneration occurs when you restore the quality of your soft tissue - your fascia, muscles, ligaments and joints. So, get your seven hours of sleep a night. Get a massage. Get a foam roller. Now. Today. You'll be amazed at the results.

Don't wait to take control . Prevent stress from overwhelming your system. "We're so busy sprinting, that we don't stop until our bodies shut down and force us to take notice of the damage we've done." Meditate daily, start a journal, start or get back to your favorite yoga or Pilates class. Pick one - because even one will create noticeable change.

Set aside a few minutes a day for YOU . You may hear this message all the time, but when will you hear it enough to change your behavior? You can make a difference with just a few minutes a day, even if it's only 10 minutes to start. You get to pick the activity: a power nap, a walk around the block, a chance to stretch, to meditate, to breathe, or to write. And call it what you will - personal time, me-time, quiet time, etc. I challenge you to start today and I promise you will remember the "why" in addition to the "what" of your busy life, you will restore perspective, and you will renew energy and purpose.

Friends, don't let the madness of any month weaken you or your message. You CAN tame the lion into a lamb. And when you do, you will be stronger than ever. Sometimes you have to focus on yourself in order to focus on others. Just like, sometimes you have to go slow to go fast. This may be one of those times for you. Take 10 minutes for yourself TODAY!!!

Cooking with the Pros
Shrimp Roll-Ups

rollups

  • 1 pound of whole grain lasagna noodles with ruffled edges
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 pound of fresh shelled, deveined shrimp
  • 3 garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 shallot chopped
  • 1 tablespoon fennel seeds
  • 2 (15 ounce) containers of part skim ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • 2 egg whites, slightly beaten
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped basil
  • ¼ cup fresh chopped Italian parsley
  • Zest of 1 large lemon
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
  • 3 cups of marinara sauce (homemade or Trader Joe's brand)
  • 1 cup grated part skim mozzarella cheese

Preheat oven to 350

Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add lasagna noodles and partially cook 6 - 8 minutes, do not overcook. Drain, lay flat on a paper towel.

Meanwhile in a heavy skillet heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic, fennel seeds and shallot, sautéing for about 3-5 minutes, do not burn. Salt and pepper shrimp and add to the garlic and shallots. Cook for about 4 minutes until shrimp is just cooked through. Remove from the heat and cool. When cool coarsely chop the shrimp and place in a large bowl with the garlic and shallots, add 2 cups of the ricotta cheese, beaten eggs, parmesan cheese, basil, parsley, lemon zest, nutmeg and salt & pepper to taste. Stir until well combined.

**I like to use 2 small squared baking dishes or you could use one 9x12x2 long baking dish. This will make 12 roll ups and you will serve 1 to 2 roll ups per person.

Bake until heated through and just beginning to brown, about 20-25 mins.
